Thickness

Most of Pavatile's Cobble Paving ranges are either 50 or 75 mm thick. 50 mm is sufficient for pedestrian and light vehicular traffic, and 75 mm is the optimal thickness for heavy traffic. Pavatile does not manufacture any 65 mm cobbles, as this thickness is not optimal for either application. Thin cobbles (10 and 25 mm) are, however, available upon request for special decorative applications, or where a concrete screed exists below the surface (especially in outdoor-indoor transition zones).

Surface and arris

In order to avoid problems associated with the emulation of genuine old fashioned stone cobbles (which often have a domed surface), Pavatile's cobbles have been designed with a flattish surface without detracting from the traditional aesthetic effect. In domed cobbles, a relatively small part of the surface of a cobble comes into contact with the abrasive and compressive forces of traffic. Such cobbles are therefore far less durable, and are also far more uncomfortable for pedestrians to walk on, particularly if further encumbered by high-heeled shoes, shopping trolleys, wheelchairs and prams. Cobble Paving ranges

Magma Collection	CellaCobble 50	These non-road "cobbles" have been specifically designed for use in patios and similar applications around the home, where their crisp edges and near-vertical chamfer help to create a tile-like effect. Modularity to industry standard metric bricks is a key design feature, facilitating the formation of accent lines when used in combination.

Lava Collection	ClassiCobble 75	75 mm thick cobbling, designed for heavy-impact traffic areas. The range also includes the well-known heavy duty V&A Double Cobble.

Lava Collection	EuroCobble 50	50 mm thick cobbling, designed as a crossover between cobble and block paving, thus suitable for low-impact vehicular traffic, e.g. in domestic driveways.

Granito Collection	PlazaCobble 50	50 mm thick, with a fine granite surface and a tile-like appearance. For low traffic areas.

Granito Collection	PlazaCobble 75	75 mm thick cobbling with a fine granite surface and a tile-like appearance. Suitable for vehicular traffic.

Stonemasons Collection	QuarryCobble 75	A rough surface texture belies the accurate casting of this cobble range. Cast-in spacers facilitate ease of installation and even grouting.
