Women do more damage than ten ton trucks!
Hmmm, I thought that would get your attention. And I'm afraid it's true.

A truck spreads its load, but the point load of women's heeled shoes attacks paving like militant hordes of lithomaniac woodpeckers.

The moral of the story is this: If you reckon you can sommer use any old cobbles because the area you're having paved is "only" going to be used for walking on, you're looking for punishment. Although the thickness of road cobbles is important to bearing loads, it is the surface of cobbles in pedestrian zones that really takes a hammering (or a chiseling!). As there is a relationship between the compressive strength (expressed as MPa) and the Surface Wearing Index of a concrete paver, Pavatile recommends the highest MPa concrete mix for paving used in commercial pedestrian zones.

This kid's shoes are not so damaging to paving. I have no idea why his hair is blue, though.
DISCLAIMER

The management of Pavatile played no part in the choice of sexist stereotypes in either the verbal or visual imagery of this article. It was written by a woman who usually wears thick-soled tackies, but who occasionally lapses into lime green stilettoes with sparkly flowers on top.

Oh, and she knows that the truck in the picture weighs more than ten tons.
