The appearance of colours in pictures

The appearance of colours in pictures depends on various lighting criteria, and on the computer monitor and printer. The picture above was taken at sunset in late summer. The pictures to the right and below show sections of EuroCobble 50 taken with the same camera and settings at 15:00 at Platinum Junction. (The section to the right was sunlit and the one below was in the shade.) In both pictures, the colour for the body of the paving was Table Mountain Sandstone; in the picture on the right, there is also a border in Charcoal Dark. A patina of cement left by the installers after grouting, is also visible as whitish patches.

The effect of texture on colour appearance

The picture below shows how the same colour appears different in products with different surface textures manufactured on the same day from the same mixture. In this example, a two-tone fused colour, Table Mountain Sandstone, has been used for (from left to right, and top to bottom) modules of SlateBlok 50, SanBlok 50, EuroCobble 50 and PlazaCobble 50. These ranges respectively belong to the Richtersveld, Zandveld, Lava and Granito texture collections. See all Pavatile's textures.
